A funeral service and Mass of Christian Burial for Brian P. Smith, 60, of Davenport, was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial was in Greenview Memorial Gardens, Silvis, Ill. Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 1, from 2-5 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.
Mr. Smith died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a brief cardiopulmonary illness.
Brian Smith was born July 10, 1959, in Chicago, the son of Dr. Forrest and JoAnn (Albrecht) Smith. He graduated from Davenport Assumption High School in 1977, and later earned a degree in marketing and management from St. Ambrose University.
He married Kim Hatfield. He later married Sharon Carlson on Sept. 8, 2019, in Davenport.
He worked for R.E.I. Co-op for 10 years. Since 2002, he worked as a Realtor for the Mel Foster Company, and also served in their educational department and management team. More recently, he teamed up with his daughter Sara to form the Father/Daughter Realty Team.
He was a member of the Quad City Area Realtors.
His hobbies were golfing, reading, fishing, and music.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; his daughter, Sara (Matt) DeWulf, Davenport; his stepdaughters, Shayla Holub (Vijay Sachdev) and Christy (Chad) Bulman; his step-grandchildren, Priya and Niam and Callie and Cambrie; his siblings, Suzanne (Greg) Voss, Barbara Hanssen (David Faulhaber), Kevin (Hilary) Smith, Christopher Smith, Shannon (Tom) Elliott, and Kerry (Julie) Smith; his mother-in-law, Bonnie Carlson, Bettendorf; and his father-in-law, Howard Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Mark Hanssen.
