A funeral service for Arlene Jens, 93, of Davenport, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Grace Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Inurnment will be in Davenport Memorial Park. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Jens died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at Davenport Lutheran Home.
Arlene Johnson was born March 1, 1926, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Edith (Edmund) Johnson.
She married Wayne Jens on Sept. 1, 1947, in Fairfield. He died Oct. 25, 2017.
She worked as a nursing administrator for Bettendorf Manor and later at Davenport Lutheran Home.
She was active in politics, and was a member of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and Grace Lutheran Church.
Her hobbies were writing and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons, John (Sara) Jens and Chris (Deanna) Jens; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or the Swedish Museum in Swedesburg, Iowa.
