Obituary: Albert Levan

A funeral service for Albert J. Levan, 89, of Pleasant Valley, formerly of Bettendorf, was held at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 25, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Visitation was one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Mr. Levan died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018.

Albert Levan was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Ava, Mo., the son of Edgar and Elona (Sanders) Levan.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He married Maxine Fry on May 28, 1949, in Ava.

He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1989 after 25 years of service.

His hobbies were fishing, hunting, training his hunting dogs, experimenting with grafting fruit trees, traveling to historic locations, and telling stories.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Garry (Dottie) Levan, Kenneth (Brenda) Levan, and Debbie (Gary) Bice; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Irene, Reba, and Joann.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Loreen, Arleta, and Arlena; and four brothers, Vernon, Raymond, Melvin, and Arthur.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
