Mel Andresen's WWII letter home, April 13, 1945

On April 13, 1945, Army soldier Mel Andresen sent his family an 18- by 24-inch letter recounting his year of deployment through D-Day, when he drove supplies on Omaha Beach. The letter was among the motivations for his son, Vietnam Army Veteran Tom Andresen, of Eldridge, to join the Eldridge American Legion. Tom Andresen shared this letter and images with NSP readers.
