Posted

Lorraine Washburn of St. Mary’s Nursing Home, Davenport, will celebrate her 90th birthday with a family gathering on her birthday, Oct. 18. As Lorraine enjoys a nice glass of wine occasionally, she has asked all of her friends and family to raise their glass of wine and make a toast on her 90th birthday.

Lorraine Francis Sharrett was born Oct. 18, 1927, in rural Scott County, the daughter of Ralph and Dorothy (Drenter) Sharrett. She married Ralph Kuehl in Davenport in 1946. She later married Dean Washburn in Rock Island in 1976.

She was employed at M.L. Parker for one year in 1946, and later for Younkers for two years when Northpark Mall first opened, but primarily enjoyed being a homemaker.

She is a lifetime member of the Scott County Historical Society.

Her hobbies include traveling, cooking, needlework, crossword puzzles, and shopping.

Her children are Suzy (Robert) Ven Horst of Bettendorf, Linda Enders of Eldridge, and Janice Kuehl of Davenport.

Her grandchildren are Amy Ven Horst, Matthew (Jennifer) Ven Horst, and Jacob Ven Horst, all of Eldridge, and Kate (Justin) Trine of LeClaire. She has three great-grandchildren.
