Financial institution groups release policy statement

Posted

Moments before press time, The NSP received this latest news from the Mississippi Valley Bankers Association, the Illinois Quad Cities Chapter of Credit Unions and Iowa Great River Chapter of Credit Unions:

"Consistent with recommendations from the Center for Disease Control concerning the coronaviurs (COVID19), as well as federal, state and local government recommendations on social gatherings, in the near future many local banks and credit unions will be delivering in-branch services solely through drive through facilities. Please access your financial institution’s website or call for information on its open locations and hours of operation. Community banks and credit unions will continue to provide mobile banking services, ATM access, bill pay services, person-to-person payment services and other electronic/mobile services as usual. Other traditional services delivered in our lobbies, like access to safe deposit boxes, may be provided by appointment. Please also contact your financial institution for information on lending, trust, wealth management, insurance and other services.

"The institutions making up the Mississippi Valley Bankers Association, Illinois Quad Cities Chapter of Credit Unions and Iowa Great River Chapter of Credit Unions regret any inconvenience resulting from these lobby access limitations.

"We believe it in the Quad Cities best interest to proactively reduce the spread of COVID-19 by following CDC and government recommendations while also caring for the health and safety of our customers and team members. It is expected that these service limitations will likely remain in place until social gathering restrictions have been lifted.

"Subject to applicable limits, bank and credit union deposits are insured by the FDIC and NCUA, respectively.

"For more information contact your financial institution."
