Farewell, my friend

Each of us (I hope) has a few friends who, even though we are apart for years, can pick up a conversation and it is like yesterday. For me, Birch Holden was one such person, which is why, when Erin Gentz handed me his obituary last Thursday afternoon, time stopped at our office. Even though it has been 30 years since he lived and worked in this community, he remained a part of us until the end, even at age 95.
