Dorothy Auliff to celebrate 95th birthday with family

Dorothy Marie Auliff of DeWitt will celebrate her 95th birthday with a family luncheon.

Dorothy Oelerich was born Sept. 16, 1924, in Davenport. She married Foster J. Auliff on June 15, 1946, at the Argo Presbyterian Church. He passed away in 1997.

After graduating from Davenport High School with Normal Training in 1942, she was a schoolteacher in one-room schools in LeClaire Township. In later years, she worked as a substitute teacher at area school districts.

She was a 4-H leader in Princeton Township and is a member of the DeWitt American Legion Auxiliary and the Genesis DeWitt Hospital Auxiliary.  She has been a member of Our Savior Presbyterian Church for over 70 years, where she has served as Ruling Elder, a Sunday school teacher, choir director and pianist. She enjoys singing in the church choir, quilting with the Women of the Church, and embroidery.

She is the mother of Carole (Ronald) Oliver of Long Grove, and Mary (John) Havens of Monmouth, Ill.

Her grandchildren are Lisa Oliver Kemmann, Mark and Matthew Oliver, Laura Oliver Lassiter, Rebecca Havens Fiscus, James Havens, and Amanda Havens Pilger. She has 17 great-grandchildren.
