Private family services were held for Ila B. Thoensen, 94, of Blue Grass. Burial was in the Blue Grass Cemetery. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Thoensen died Thursday, May 16, 2019.
Ila Shannon was born July 18, 1924, in Campbell, Calif., the daughter of Richard and Ina (Sutliff) Shannon.
She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944-1946.
She married Lloyd Thoensen on July 20, 1946, in Davenport. He preceded her in death.
She retired from the Blue Grass Post Office after 25 years of service.
She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Her hobbies were camping and traveling with her husband and family.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Rich) Powell, Blue Grass; a son, Lee (Linda) Thoensen, Silvis, Ill.; her grandchildren, Scott (Kim), Vicki (Bob), Luke (Teresa), and Lindsay (Josh); seven great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Brown, and a brother, Robert Shannon.
Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home or to Genesis Hospice.
