Obituary: Gail Braet

A funeral service for Gail Louise Braet, 70, of Davenport, was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 3, from 3-6 p.m. at the mortuary.

Mrs. Braet died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, at her home.

Gail Druhl was born Sept. 19, 1948, in Davenport, the daughter of John and Marty (Warren) Druhl.

She married Melvin Braet on Sept. 5, 1970. He died March 6, 2002.

She worked for Iowa American Water Company, retiring after 25 years of service. She later worked at Curves.

Her hobbies were spending time with her family, going to car shows, karaoke, mall walking, baking, playing bingo, and watching sports.

Survivors include a daughter, Lori (Dan) Fisher, Davenport; her granddaughters, Emily and Erin Puck; her siblings, Jean (Tim) Rossmiller, Davenport, Fred (Mona) Druhl, Blue Grass, Rick (Pam) Druhl, Eldridge, and Eddie (Kim) Maggard, Springfield, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Gene Sperry; and her mother-in-law, Frieda Braet.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Henry “Hank” Braet; a sister, Mary Sperry; and a special friend, Larry Lafoon.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.
