April 1, 1970: The North Scott School Board discussed base teacher salaries for the 1970-1971 school year. Proposed amounts were $6,900, $6,850, and $6,800. Leon Fox, a spokesman for the teachers, said none of those figures would be acceptable. A group of property owners was also at the meeting to protest an increase in teacher salaries, citing the sharp increase in property taxes over the last six years.
