Sixth-graders compete for final time

Sixth graders from across the North Scott district converged on Lancer Stadium for the final time at the end of the 2018-19 school year for the annual Field Days competition.

Unemployment inched upward in July

Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased slightly to 2.5 percent in July. The state’s jobless rate was 2.4 percent one year ago. The U.S. unemployment rate remained at 3.7 percent in July.

Fire up the ovens for Donahue Apple Pie contest

Donahue will be holding its annual Frontier Day event on Sunday, Sept. 1, and one of the day’s activities will be the popular Apple Pie Contest.

Local golfers battle for Irwin Cup

Two North Scott students were part of a three-person Quad Cities contingent that participated in the third annual Irwin Cup, an event that brought together junior golfers from the First Tee chapters in Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
